e-Manifest Filing Services

USA FlagAt ABC Customs Brokers, we work hard at keeping it simple. For all of your U.S. customs brokerage requirements, we are proud to offer the services of our affiliate U.S. customs brokerage company, Pacific Customs Brokers Inc.

Unlike other customs brokers, Pacific Customs Brokers Inc. is able to offer an array of services that will fulfill all of your cross-border shipping requirements. Their commitment to priority service will ensure that your shipments are handled professionally and promptly. They aim to exceed their client's expectations by providing exceptional services, strategic solutions, and unmatched client satisfaction 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

On October 27, 2006, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a Federal Register Notice establishing the mandatory use of ACE Electronic Manifest (e-Manifest) at all land border ports mandating commercial and private carriers to communicate with CBP electronically before arrival at the border.

What is an Electronic Manifest (e-Manifest)?

It is a declaration of the conveyance, crew and commodity that is sent to U.S. Customs and Border Protection one hour prior to arrival at the port of entry.

In order to file an e-Manifest, the carrier must first obtain a Standard Carrier Alpha Code.

Obtaining a Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC)

The Standard Carrier Alpha Code is a vital part of the e-Manifest process. This unique code identifies the carrier to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and allows for the carrier to file their e-Manifest with CBP.

To file for a SCAC code you must apply to the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA). You can submit your application, along with a $62.00 application fee, online at www.nmfta.org. You can also submit your application by fax or mail, along with a $70.00 application fee, to 703.683.6296 or via mail to their head office, located at 1001 North Fairfax Street, Suite 600, Alexandria, VA 22314. Once the application has been received, a letter from the NMFTA with your assigned SCAC* code and instructions will be sent to you.

* SCAC codes are only valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

Setting up your e-Manifest Account

The process to initially set up your e-Manifest account is simple. Just fill out the e-Manifest Setup Package and submit to ABC Customs Brokers. Instructions on how to submit are stated in the package.
