Electronic Export Application and Certification System Established for Meat and Poultry

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a final rule amending the meat and poultry inspection regulations to provide for an electronic export application and certification system that will be available as an alternative to the paper-based process. Exporters who choose to utilize the Public Health Information System Export Component will be charged a fee that will initially be set at $4.03 per application submitted and will be updated each year. This rule also provides flexibility in the requirements for official export inspection marks, devices and certificates and amends the egg product export regulations to parallel the meat and poultry product export regulations.
