Export of Substances on the Export Control List Regulations
Canadian Society of Customs Brokers May 21, 2013
Environment Canada anticipates that the Export of Substances on the Export Control List Regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 will be published in Part II of the Canada Gazette on 22 May 2013. This instrument consolidates the Export Control List Notification Regulations (Notification Regulations) and the Export of Substances Under the Rotterdam Convention Regulations (Rotterdam Regulations). It introduces new provisions to allow Canada to meet its export obligations under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
The regulations will be available at: http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/index-eng.html
A draft of these regulations was published on August 6, 2011 for a 75-day public comment period. The comments received were considered during the development of the Export of Substances on the Export Control List Regulations.
Attached please find a “Guidance Document” for the new regulations as well as reporting forms for the prior notification of export and the application for export permits.
