The CBSA has provided a one-page summary (PDF) outlining the existing national trade compliance priorities for 2010-11. They have advised that this is an evergreen process, and additional priorities will be added over the course of the year.

CBSA have also stated the following: "About half of the national priorities that were on the published list for last fiscal year were carried over into the current year. This is due in part to the fact that some initial verification work still continues for these national priorities (i.e. carry-over workload) and, in some cases, the preliminary results have also required us to expand our initial scope and to issue further targets for verification under the same national priority.

You will note that seven of the 2009-2010 national priorities have been completed and were removed from the list, while three new priorities have already been added for this fiscal year. Since this is an evergreen process, new targets are continually being developed and will be added to the list (and released as verification targets for the action of our regional trade compliance officers) as the year goes on. At present, I can confirm that the Compliance Unit is working on several new priorities, and have already completed their risk analysis work on some others, and that they will all be presented to our internal Risk Assessment Committee for approval at its next meeting, to be held in November 2010. At that time, the published list will be updated and I will ensure that you receive a revised copy."
