CBP Envisions More Detection, Inspection, Surveillance and Communications along Northern Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a final environmental impact statement that addresses the environmental and socioeconomic effects of its activities along the U.S.-Canada border and has tentatively selected one of the four alternative approaches it could adopt going forward, which is called the Detection, Inspection, Surveillance, and Communications Technology Expansion Alternative.

This approach would focus on deploying more effective detection, inspection, surveillance and communications technologies along the 4,000 miles of border that stretch between Washington State and Maine, and 100 miles south into the United States.
